Ramallah (West Bank), November 16 (AP) Palestinian health officials said Thursday that 11,470 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the Israel-Hamas war began six weeks ago.
According to the ministry, most of the people have been killed in Israeli air strikes. The ministry said that among the dead, 4,707 were minors and 3,155 were women. The ministry does not differentiate between combatants and civilians.
In recent days the Palestinian Health Ministry in the West Bank has begun updating the death toll in Gaza.
Until last week, the health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza was the main official source of the number of Palestinian civilian deaths. Key ministry officials were working from Shifa Hospital in Gaza City and stopped providing information after the hospital lost power and connectivity.
