Ahmedabad, November 5 (Language) Gujarat State Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) raided two manufacturing units in Banaskantha district and seized 567 liters of adulterated ghee and 3,849 kg of sweets worth Rs 9.29 lakh.
While adulterated ghee worth Rs 2.49 lakh was seized from the premises of a food products company in Deesa town on Saturday, sweets made from adulterated mawa worth Rs 6.80 lakh were seized from the premises of a dairy products unit in Palanpur, an official release said. Were recovered.
“The owner of the food product unit had installed CCTV cameras 500 meters away from the premises to keep an eye on the activities of officials in the area,” FDCA commissioner H G Kosiya said.
“Since we were aware of this ploy by the unit owner, our officers went there late in the night and entered the unit by scaling the wall, where we found empty drums of vanaspati ghee,” he said. “Preliminary investigation revealed that the owner Lomesh Limbuwala was adulterating the ghee and selling it as pure ghee or cow ghee in packets of five litre, 200 ml and 35 ml.”
