Guwahati, November 16 (Language) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma on Thursday directed officials to maintain and repair the roads connecting the state with Bhutan to boost tourism and economy.
Sharma, who is handling the Public Works Department (PWD), reviewed various road projects connecting Assam and Bhutan with senior officials of the department.
“To take stock of the condition of highways and roads connecting Assam and Bhutan, Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma held a meeting with PWD and other concerned officials,” the Chief Minister’s Office posted on Twitter.
It said the chief minister directed officials to maintain and repair roads to boost tourism and economy on both sides of the border.
Earlier this month, Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck visited Assam for the first time and visited various important places during his three-day visit.
