Patna, November 8 (Language) Bihar Appropriation (No. 4) Bill, 2023 was passed in the state assembly on Wednesday, paving the way for withdrawal of Rs 26,086.35 crore from the treasury for the financial year 2023-24.
Presenting the bill in the House, Bihar Finance Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said, “An amount of Rs 26,086.35 crore will be allocated to various departments for several projects in the current financial year. The education department will get Rs 7,672 crore, urban area development and housing will get Rs 4276.05 crore, Panchayati Raj will get Rs 3340.61 crore, rural development will get Rs 1,500 crore and social welfare department will get Rs 1094.53 crore.
He said that apart from this, there were other departments also which required additional funds for the remaining period of this financial year.
Accusing the Center of showing reluctance in releasing funds/share under various Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) to Bihar, Choudhary said, “The Center has shown reluctance in releasing its share for various schemes in social, education and infrastructure sectors in Bihar. has stopped. In most of the centrally sponsored schemes like Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), the state government is paying the central government’s share from its own treasury.
The minister said, ‘In most of the CSS, Bihar is paying the Centre’s share from its treasury… but at the same time, we (Bihar) are not getting our fair share in the central taxes as well.’ language anwar shobhana
