Singapore, Nov 11 (Language) Biryani and a dish known as ‘Indian Rojak’ in Singapore are among the 12 winners of the country’s favorite ‘hawker food’ competition. The objective of this competition is to encourage the use of piped gas for cooking, which reduces carbon emissions.
Haji Hanifa M-Ansari Eating House for cooking and selling biryani and Fazil Muslim Food Stall for providing ‘Indian Rojak’ were declared winners on Saturday.
The competition encouraged the use of piped gas to cook ‘street food’ in line with Singapore’s aim to increase reliance on low-carbon methods.
After a two and a half month campaign, leading gas supplier City Energy Pte Ltd honored 12 outstanding hawkers in its annual ‘City Hawker Food Hunt’. This competition is the oldest ‘hawker food’ competition in Singapore.
City Energy said the competition aims to highlight Singapore’s ‘hawker food’ culture, preserving and promoting the country’s rich culinary heritage.
