Itanagar, November 21 (Language) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the only party which speaks openly against money culture in elections.
At a BJP meeting at Seppa, the headquarters of East Kameng district, with Union Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju and district MLAs on Monday, Khandu called on party workers to fight money culture in the elections.
According to a release issued by the party, Khandu said that BJP is the only party which can do something and it is the cleanest party among all the political parties.
He said, “BJP is the only party which can speak openly against money culture in elections. I urge all of you to campaign for fair elections that are based on performance and not on how much cash or in-kind payment a candidate can make.”
Khandu said, “A leader who buys votes will never work. Let us unite in the fight against this evil practice to maintain the sanctity of democracy and stop corruption.
The Chief Minister urged the party workers to create awareness about various welfare schemes and projects of the Central and State Government so that the last man in the remote village knows what the BJP government is doing for him.
Khandu laid the foundation stone of the BJP district office to be built in Waysang.
He also laid the foundation stone of a sports ground at Seppa and a bridge over the Kameng River to connect Seppa town to New Seppa.
