Rampur (UP), November 5 (Language) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Rampur, Akash Saxena, senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan, his wife Tajin Fatma and their son got seven years imprisonment in the fake birth certificate case. Abdullah will appeal in the sessions court to get Azam sentenced to life imprisonment in this case.

On October 18, the MP/MLA court of Rampur had sentenced Azam Khan, his wife Tajin Fatma and his son and former MLA Abdullah Azam to seven years in jail in the case of making two birth certificates of Abdullah Azam. Azam Khan Sitapur, Abdullah Hardoi and Tajin Fatma are lodged in Rampur jail.

BJP’s current MLA from Rampur, Akash Saxena, who has filed a case against Khan, his wife and son in this case, said while talking to reporters on Sunday that he will appeal in the court to get this sentence commuted to life imprisonment.

He said, “The court in which this case was going on could not have sentenced anyone for more than seven years. Azam Khan has been sentenced under sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code. There is a provision of life imprisonment in section 467, but the ACJM (Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate) court can sentence a maximum of seven years.”

He said, “After consulting our lawyers, we will appeal in the sessions court of Rampur that Azam Khan, his wife and son should be sentenced to life imprisonment under section 467 of the IPC.”

Saxena said, “This is the first time in the political history of India that a public servant is committing such a crime that he himself is involved in to make his son an MLA.”

On the question whether an appeal will be made to give life imprisonment only to Azam Khan, he said, “If any appeal is made only regarding the case, then we will seek increase in the sentence of all those who have been convicted in it.” Will go.”

Azam Khan, his wife and former Rajya Sabha member Tazeen Fatma and son Abdullah Azam have been booked under sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating), 467 (valuable security or authority to make or transfer a valuable security) of the Indian Penal Code. , or forgery in order to obtain any money, etc.), 468 (forgery to defraud) and 471 (fraudulently or dishonestly using a forged record as genuine) by the ACJM court of Rampur. Was sentenced to imprisonment.

SP’s founding member and former minister Azam Khan has been MLA from Rampur 10 times. He was elected MLA from Rampur Sadar seat in the 2022 assembly elections, but during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, his membership of the assembly was terminated after he was sentenced in a case of giving hate speech.

After that, in the by-election of Rampur Sadar seat, BJP candidate Akash Saxena defeated Azam Khan’s close aide Asim Raja and hoisted the BJP flag for the first time on this seat.
