Thane, November 2 (Language) Navi Mumbai Police in Maharashtra has registered a case against a 25-year-old man for allegedly raping and threatening a woman. An official gave this information on Thursday.
The man had befriended the woman on a mobile chat application.
Accused Navnath Kade, resident of Beed district, won the trust of the 23-year-old woman resident of Panvel by talking and then met her.
Kade allegedly took the woman to Nashik and then raped her at his home in Beed. The woman has claimed that Kade forcefully married her, beat her and posted objectionable pictures of both of them on the social media platform Instagram.
The officer said the alleged crime took place between June and August this year.
Navi Mumbai Police on Wednesday registered a case under sections 376 (rape) and 504 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
The officer said that since the alleged crime took place in Beed, the case has been transferred to the Peth police station there.
