Bhopal, November 17 (Language) Since the Model Code of Conduct was implemented in Madhya Pradesh on October 9, apart from Rs 40.18 crore in cash, liquor, narcotics, jewelery and other items were seized, whose total value is around Rs 300 crore. A top election official gave this information on Friday.
Voting took place on 230 assembly seats in the state on Friday and the results will be declared on December 3.
Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan said that since the code of conduct came into force after the announcement of the election schedule, continuous action is being taken by the enforcement agencies across the state.
He said that the joint team of Flying Surveillance Team (FST), Static Surveillance Team (SST) and police have seized illicit liquor, drugs, cash, precious metals, gold, silver, jewelery and other items worth about Rs 339.95 crore.
Rajan said, “From October 9 to November 16, these joint parties seized Rs 40.18 crore in cash, 34.68 lakh liters of illicit liquor worth Rs 65.56 crore, narcotics worth Rs 17.25 crore, gold, silver and other precious metals worth Rs 92.76 crore.” Other materials worth Rs 124.18 crore have been seized.
A total of Rs 72.93 crore in cash and other items were seized in such operations during the 2018 elections, when the model code of conduct was in force, officials said.
