Uttarkashi, November 16 (Language) Indrajit Kumar, brother of Vishwajeet of Jharkhand, who was among the 40 workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel, said on Thursday that he is confident that all the workers will come out safely.
Indrajit told reporters here, ‘I reached here on Tuesday evening, worried about my brother’s well-being. After talking to my brother and another person from our state, Subodh Kumar, on both Tuesday and Wednesday, I became worry free. He said they are all fine.
Indrajit said that now that the drill machine brought from abroad has been put to work, he is sure that they will all come out safely.
Of the workers trapped in the tunnel, 15 are residents of Jharkhand alone while the rest are from Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha and Assam.
A portion of the Silkyara tunnel on the Yamunotri National Highway had collapsed on Sunday morning, trapping 40 workers. To remove them, drilling is being done in the debris with a powerful American Agar machine.
