New Delhi, November 10 (Language) Delhi Police has arrested a farmer for burning stubble in his field in Chhawla area of Dwarka. An official gave this information on Friday.
The officer said that the police came to know about the burning of stubble by the farmer in the early hours of Thursday and a team from Chhawla police station reached the spot.
“By the time our staff reached the spot, the stubble was already burnt,” he said. Fire brigade was called to the spot to extinguish the fire.
He said that after interrogation, a case was registered against a farmer named Om Prakash under sections of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act and other legal provisions and he was arrested.
Police said that the farmer later got bail from the court.
Delhi government has banned stubble burning amid increasing pollution in the city.
