Diwali festival celebrated with devotion and gaiety in Rajasthan

Jaipur, November 12 (Language) The festival of Diwali was celebrated with full devotion and gaiety in Rajasthan on Sunday.

The markets of the capital were decorated with colorful lights and till late Saturday night there was a rush of people at the shops to buy new clothes, sweets, crackers and other items.

The walled markets of the city, including Kishanpole Market, Chowra Rasta, Johri Market and Tripolia Market and others are beautifully decorated with lights for the festival. A large number of people come during night time to see the light decorations of the markets.

For the last few nights, the sky has been lit up with fireworks at most places in the city.

At the same time, tight security arrangements have been made in crowded areas of the city. A large number of additional police personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order in the city and crowded areas during the festive season.

A senior police officer said additional police personnel have been deployed at crowded places like walled areas, markets, shopping malls, railway stations and bus stands in the city.

He said that since assembly elections are to be held in Rajasthan on November 25, tight security arrangements have been made.

Leaders and candidates contesting assembly elections were also busy meeting people on the occasion of the festival.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot visited hometown Jodhpur in the afternoon and is scheduled to return to Jaipur at night.

Deputy Leader of Opposition Satish Poonia, who is contesting as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Jaipur’s Amer Assembly constituency, met people at his Jaipur residence.
