Pune, November 7 (Language) After a very disappointing performance in the World Cup, defending champions England are out of the title race but assistant coach Carl Hopkinson said that the team will be fully prepared in the last two matches for the Champions Trophy to be played in Pakistan in 2025. Will exert strength.
The teams finishing in the top eight places in the World Cup, along with hosts Pakistan, will qualify for the Champions Trophy.
England are 10th and last on the World Cup table with one win from seven matches. The team has to face Netherlands on Wednesday and then Pakistan on Saturday (November 11).
“Obviously, to be honest, I don’t think any game is ever important when you play for England,” Hopkinson said on the eve of the match against the Netherlands. I think we are fully prepared for the upcoming matches. We have two matches and we have to win both to qualify for the Champions Trophy.
Hopkinson denied that the team’s main focus is on Test matches. After Brendon McCullum became the coach, England has achieved great success in Tests by batting aggressively.
He said, “No, it is not at all like that.” Every team’s international schedule is obviously very busy. I think we try to do the best we can by maintaining a balance between players who play Test cricket and players who play ODI cricket.
The former Sussex batsman admitted that his players could not perform as per their skills.
He said, “I think that throughout the tournament our players have not been able to perform as per their skills at important moments on the field. Everyone can see that we have not lived up to our plans.
