FIFA-backed football academy inaugurated in Odisha.


Bhubaneswar, November 21 (Language) Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik along with FIFA Global Football Development Head Arsene Wenger inaugurated the ‘AIFF-FIFA Talent Academy’ at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

In this academy, the coaches appointed by FIFA will select 50 players from across the country in the Under-14 category and train them for two years. Out of these, 15 players will be from Odisha.

On this occasion, Patnaik said, “Football is a popular game among the young generation in India. There is a lot of talent in football in India and with proper coaching facilities our team can do very well in the future.

He said, “I am glad that we were able to partner with FIFA and AIFF (All India Football Federation) to create such an academy. Odisha will support football projects and work closely with AIFF to promote football in India.

State Sports Minister Tusharkanti Behera, AIFF President Kalyan Choubey and Odisha Chief Secretary PK Jena were present at the event.
