Lucknow, November 3 (Language) The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday arrested former MLA of Ambedkar Nagar district Pawan Pandey from Ramsnehighat police station area of Barabanki district. A senior STF official gave this information.
STF Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Amitabh Yash said that Pawan Pandey has been arrested in a case registered last year under fraud, falsification of documents and conspiracy at Akbarpur Kotwali of Ambedkar Nagar district headquarters.
According to a statement issued by the STF on Friday night, the former MLA is accused of conspiring to get a land contract worth crores of rupees in the name of his associates by committing fraud and forgery.
According to the statement, former MLA Pandey and his associates were accused by Champa Devi, wife of Kedarnath Singh, resident of Nasirpur Barwa of Ambedkar Nagar district headquarters, of getting the land contract done in Akbarpur Kotwali under fraud and conspiracy. According to the statement, an FIR was registered in this matter last year. According to the statement, other accused in the case Mukesh Tiwari, Govind Yadav, Lal Bahadur Singh, Deep Narayan Sharma, Neetu Singh were already arrested and sent to jail after completing the legal process.
According to the statement, later bail petitions were filed by Neetu Singh and another accused in this case in the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on different facts. According to the statement, the High Court took cognizance of the matter and passed an order on 19 May 2023 to get the matter investigated by STF. According to the statement, STF is investigating the case in compliance with the order of the High Court.
According to the statement issued by STF, the STF team on Friday found Pawan Pandey’s crime proven and arrested him from near Bhitaria of Ram Sanehighat police station area of Barabanki district. STF said that about 90 cases are registered against Pandey in several police stations including Ambedkar Nagar, Prayagraj, Lucknow and Mumbai.
According to the statement, the STF completed the advance legal process and sent the arrested accused to jail.
It is noteworthy that Pawan Pandey was elected from Akbarpur assembly constituency in the year 1991, but after that he contested many elections but could not win. At present, Pandey’s brother Rakesh Pandey is Samajwadi Party MLA from Jalalpur and nephew Ritesh Pandey is MP from Ambedkar Nagar from Bahujan Samaj Party.
