Samastipur (Bihar), November 15 (Language) Four people, including a woman, were injured in an explosion inside a train coach near Samastipur railway station in Bihar on Wednesday. A railway official gave this information.
According to Samastipur Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Vinay Srivastava, the blast occurred in the afternoon when the Bhagalpur-Darbhanga Intercity Express was on outer signal.
He said a team of Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel immediately reached the affected coach, where smoke was found emanating from a bag kept on the upper seat.
The injured passengers were taken to the local hospital for treatment and after thorough questioning of all the passengers of the said coach, the train was allowed to leave for its destination Darbhanga.
“Two passengers – Arvind Mandal and Navendu Mandal, residents of Madhubani district – admitted that they had boarded the train with the bag in which they had kept some gunpowder,” DRM said.
He said both were involved in the manufacturing of firecrackers, which are in high demand during the festive season, and the gunpowder was also made for the same purpose.
Police have arrested both the persons and further investigation is underway.
