Mumbai, November 17 (Language) Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Friday accused the Maharashtra government of delaying the launch of the Navi Mumbai Metro Rail line for publicity.
Services on the 11.10 km long Metro Rail Line-1 between Belapur and Pendar in Navi Mumbai started from Friday.
The state’s City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) had said in a release on Thursday that the metro services were being opened to the public “without any official programme” on the instructions of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
NCP national spokesperson Clyde Crasto said in a statement, “Metro Rail was ready to serve the common man six months ago, but there was a delay in starting it for the public because the Maharashtra government did not want Prime Minister Narendra Modi to do so.” Couldn’t find time.”
“This government is only concerned about its own publicity and profit,” Crasto said. They do not care about the convenience of common people. This government, for its own self-interest, delayed for six months in providing transportation facilities to the residents of Navi Mumbai.
On Shinde’s announcement of starting the metro rail line service without a formal inauguration programme, he said that this attitude of the Maharashtra government only proves that it is publicity hungry and anti-people.
“Metro service between Pendar to Belapur Terminal and Belapur Terminal to Pendar will start at 3 pm on Friday and the last metro train service will be at 10 pm,” CIDCO had said on Thursday. Metro service will start from 6 am from November 18. The last metro service on this route will be available at 10 pm and the train will come every 15 minutes.
