Nagpur, November 9 (Language) Senior Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar on Thursday said that the Maharashtra government should not be afraid of Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarang’s ultimatum, should not adopt the wrong path, and should not do injustice to the members of Other Backward Classes. should do.
Jarange had withdrawn his indefinite fast on November 2 and had set December 24 as the deadline for implementing Maratha reservation.
Speaking to reporters at Nagpur airport, the leader of opposition in the Assembly, when asked about Jarange’s deadline, said, “The government should not take the wrong path by giving in to threats and should not do injustice to others. We have never opposed reservation for Marathas, but it should not be given from the OBC section.
Asked about the purported video uploaded on social media by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sushma Andhare, Wadettiwar said people were losing faith in the state home department. In this alleged video, some people are shown giving packets to prisoners sitting inside a police vehicle on Jail Road in Pune.
Wadettiwar said that vehicles should not be stopped on the way while taking prisoners from jails to courts and bringing them back, but the video clearly shows that the police are misusing their authority.
The Congress leader said that just suspending a few policemen will not suffice and the state government and the Home Department should think about how to fix their bad image.
