Head coach Dravid would like to end the current tenure with a title

Ahmedabad, November 18 (Language) India’s head coach Rahul Dravid was the captain of the team in the 2007 World Cup which was eliminated in the initial round, which he would now like to compensate for in the final against Australia on Sunday.

Dravid has 10,889 runs in his name in ODIs, but as a coach, he would be trying to erase the stain on his legacy from the 2007 World Cup as Indian captain after 16 years when his players will play in the World Cup final against Australia.

Interestingly, the last day of his two-year contract as Indian coach is also Sunday. His contract began after the team’s group league exit from the 2021 T20 World Cup in the UAE.

If India win, there will be a lot of clamor for him to retain the position but anyone who knows Dravid will say that he would be very proud of this title win.

One of his former teammates in the Indian team said on the condition of confidentiality, “Jamie (Rahul’s nickname) is someone who is very self-respecting. He did not step down from the captaincy after a disappointing performance in the 2007 World Cup but after a few months won the series in England and also had a good ODI series. ,

He said, “He stepped down from the post only after the Test victory in England. Here too, if India wins, BCCI can offer them a new contract. ,
