Dubai, November 10 (Language) The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday suspended its full member Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) due to the week-long government interference incident.
Sri Lanka’s Parliament on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution demanding the dismissal of the country’s cricket governing body. Both the government and the opposition had full support in this. This deepened the crisis in the country’s cricket governing body.
“The International Cricket Council Board has suspended Sri Lanka Cricket’s membership of the ICC with immediate effect,” the ICC said in a statement. ,
“The ICC Board met today and determined that Sri Lanka Cricket was in serious breach of its obligations as a member, particularly the need to manage its cricket affairs autonomously and to ensure that Sri Lanka has There should be no government interference in the operation, regulation and management of cricket. ,
It also said, “The terms of the suspension will be decided by the ICC Board in due course.” ,
The resolution passed by the Parliament of Sri Lanka indicating government interference was sufficient grounds for the ICC Board to suspend Sri Lanka’s membership.

Main opposition party leader Sajith Premadasa on Thursday moved a motion in Parliament titled ‘Removal of the corrupt Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) management’, which was fully supported by senior government minister Nimal Siripala de Silva.
Two days ago, the Appeal Court on Tuesday had reinstated the Sri Lanka Cricket management headed by Shammi Silva.
On Monday, Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe sacked the Sri Lanka Cricket management and appointed former World Cup-winning captain Arjuna Ranatunga as the head of a seven-member interim committee to run the cricket board.
