In Abu Dhabi, PM Modi meets privately with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Today at Abhu Dhani, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan had private meetings. The India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will be further strengthened and expanded, according to both presidents, who reaffirmed this commitment. Since the Prime Minister’s travel to Abu Dhabi in August 2019, this was the two leaders’ first in-person encounter.

Both nations signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which went into effect on May 1st, during their virtual summit on February 18th. UAE is India’s second-largest export market and third-largest trading partner. Over the past few years, UAE FDI in India has steadily expanded and now totals more than 12 billion dollars.

Both leaders also unveiled a Vision Statement at the virtual summit, which laid out a plan for future bilateral cooperation in a variety of fields, including trade, investment, energy (including renewable energy), food security, health, defence, skills, education, and culture as well as people-to-people ties. Both leaders expressed satisfaction that India and the UAE are forging closer alliances in these fields, building on their cordial ties and long-standing human linkages. A strong energy connection exists between India and the UAE, which is now placing more emphasis on renewable energy.

The UAE President was congratulated by Prime Minister Modi for providing excellent care to the 3.5 million Indians living there, particularly during the COVID pandemic. He extended an early invitation to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to visit India.
