India beats Kuwait 1-0 in FIFA World Cup second round qualifiers


Kuwait City, November 17 (Language) With the help of Manvir Singh’s last-minute goal, India defeated Kuwait 1-0 in the second round qualifier match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup here on Thursday.

Manveer scored this important goal in the 75th minute of the game on the cross of Lalianzuala Changte, which proved to be decisive in the end.

Kuwait had to play with 10 players in the final moments of the match as Faisal Alharbi was sent off in injury time of the second half after receiving a second yellow card.

India will play its next match against Asian champions Qatar on November 21 in Bhubaneswar.

India has been placed in Group A along with Qatar, Kuwait and Afghanistan. The top two teams from the group will advance to the third round of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Meanwhile, in the World Cup qualifying matches of the Asian region, South Korea defeated Singapore 5-0 while Palestine played a goalless draw with Lebanon.

In other matches, Japan beat Myanmar 5-0, China beat Thailand 2-1, Iran beat Hong Kong 4-0, Qatar beat Afghanistan 8-1, Saudi Arabia beat Pakistan 4-0 and United Arab Emirates defeated Nepal 4–0.
