Ranchi, November 3 (Language) The Indian team, which has been unbeaten so far in the competition, will take the field against South Korea in the semi-finals of the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy (ACT) hockey tournament on Saturday with a psychological edge as it defeated its rival in the league stage. India had defeated Korea 5-0 on Thursday. Thus it won all its matches in the round robin league stage.
The Indian team was on top in the league stage with 15 points in five matches. On the other hand, Korea stood fourth with seven points from two wins, two losses and one draw.
The Indian team is looking much better than its opponents in the tournament and is determined to continue its winning campaign.
Now that India is just two wins away from the title, it will have to play cautiously and avoid complacency.
The Indian team has performed well in every department of the game so far and it is expected that the Savita Punia-led team will continue such performance in the semi-finals as well.
The Indian defense has performed brilliantly due to which the team has conceded only three goals so far. The coordination between the middle line and the front line is also excellent, as a result of which India has been successful in scoring 21 goals so far.
India head coach Yanek Schopman said, “The team has shown great spirit and coordination so far in this tournament. The win against Korea was great but we know the semi-finals will be a different challenge because there is extra pressure in a knockout match.
Indian captain Savita said, “We will try to repeat our previous success against Korea and secure our place in the final.”
A total of 21 matches have been played between the two teams so far, in which Korea has won 12 while India has won 6 matches. The remaining three matches have been draws.
