Indian Coast Guard ship Samar was removed from service.


Kochi, November 4 (Language) Indian Coast Guard (ICG) ship ‘Samar’ was decommissioned with full honors in a traditional ceremony held here on Saturday.

The ship was commissioned into service on 14 February 1996 by then Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao in a ceremony held in Goa. It was placed under the operational command of Commander Coast Guard Area (West), Mumbai.

Additionally, the ship was deployed to Kochi in 2009.

The ship, indigenously built by Goa Shipyard Limited, was named Samar, meaning war.
