Washington, November 9 (Language) A 24-year-old Indian student was attacked with a knife in a fitness center located in the US state of Indiana, who later died. The university in which the student was studying gave this information.
Varun, a computer science student at Valparaiso University, was attacked with a knife by attacker Jordan Andrade in a gym on October 29, leaving the student with head injuries. Officials are investigating the reason for the attack.
Valparaiso University, near Chicago, said in a statement on Wednesday, “It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Varun Raj Pushcha. Our university lost one of its children. Our thoughts are with Varun’s family and his friends at this sad time.”
The attacker was arrested after the incident and a case of assault with a sharp weapon and attempt to murder was registered against him.
The university said, “The university is in constant touch with Varun’s family and we will continue to provide assistance and support wherever possible so that the family can move forward at this extremely difficult time.”
A memorial service is being planned for Varun on November 16 in the university campus.
