JSW Steel withdraws application to ‘surrender’ Odisha’s Jajang iron ore mine


New Delhi, November 16 (Language) JSW Steel on Thursday said it has withdrawn the application to return an iron ore mine in Keonjhar, Odisha.

The company had submitted a notice to surrender the mining lease of Jajang iron ore mine in September. He got this mine through auction.

“After considering the demand and supply scenario of iron ore in India, it intends to surrender the Jajang iron ore block located in Keonjhar district of Odisha to the Indian Bureau of Mines on September 1,” the company said in a filing to BSE. The application is being withdrawn in 2023.

JSW Steel got Jajang iron ore block in Odisha in the year 2020.

The Sajjan Jindal-led company had won the iron ore mine in the block auction in Odisha. This block is estimated to have iron ore reserves of 39 million tonnes.
