Keeping emotions under control is an important part of my game: Kohli

New Delhi, November 6 (Language) Virat Kohli, who equaled the record of great Sachin Tendulkar by scoring his 49th century in ODI cricket, said that keeping his emotions under control and remaining calm is an important part of his game.

Kohli had equaled Tendulkar’s record by scoring an unbeaten 101 against South Africa in Kolkata on Sunday.

Kohli told Star Sports, “I always want to keep my emotions and sensibilities under control. This is an important part of my game. That’s why I remain conscious about it before the match.

It is a different matter that Tendulkar’s congratulatory message may bring tears to his eyes right now. Apart from this, he was overwhelmed when the usually calm Rohit Sharma celebrated openly after India’s victory over Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022 in Melbourne.

Kohli said, “I have been playing with Rohit for a long time but I have never seen him celebrating like this.”

Kohli had scored unbeaten 82 runs on 53 balls in that match and led India to victory. He then bravely faced bowlers like Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf.

He said, “No special preparation was done to face them because over the years you get used to facing balls bowled at speeds of 140, 145 and 150 kmph. You just have to be mentally prepared to face the challenge.”

Kohli said, “We have been winning against Pakistan for so many years but that day they overpowered us.” There is no shame in admitting it. That was a lesson for all of us. We cannot play matches thinking that we have to avenge past defeats. ,
