Maharashtra CM announces Diwali bonus for BMC employees

Mumbai, November 8 (Language) Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday announced a Diwali bonus of Rs 26,000 for Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) employees.

Shinde announced the decision after a meeting with BMC employee unions.

Earlier in the day, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray had criticized the government over the delay in announcing the bonus.

BMC, considered India’s richest municipal body, is being run by a government-appointed administrator. This is because municipal elections in Mumbai and many other cities of Maharashtra have been pending for more than a year.
