Man arrested for marrying by hiding his identity and assaulting his wife.


Ghaziabad (UP), November 21 (Language) A 35-year-old man was arrested from Chhabra Colony here for marrying a Hindu woman by hiding his identity. The police gave this information on Tuesday.

Police have arrested a person named Ricky alias Naved, who had married a Hindu woman Archana (30) by giving his fake name. According to the police, the woman’s complaint states that immediately after the marriage, Naved’s mother Gulnaz, brother-in-law Javed and two others, resident of Timarpur Colony, North Delhi, started harassing her for dowry.

Shalimar Garden Additional Police Commissioner (ACP) Suryabali Maurya said that an FIR was registered in the matter following the complaint of the woman on Monday. In her complaint, the woman told the police that on November 2, Naved along with two of his associates reached her ancestral house in Chhabra Colony of Shalimar Garden police station area and threatened to kill her and her mother. The woman alleged that Naved again reached her maternal home on Monday and assaulted her.

The woman also alleged that Naved threatened to kill her if she did not convert to Islam and had also called a Maulvi to convert her.

ACP Maurya said that based on the complaint lodged by the woman, a case has been registered against Naved, Gulnaz, Javed and two others. He said that Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act has also been invoked in the FIR.
