Ballia (UP), November 3 (Language) A person attempted self-immolation after the program of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday in Bansdih area of Ballia district. Police confirmed this.
There was chaos at the spot when the said person attempted to commit suicide.
According to the police, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had come to Bansdih Kotwali area of the district on Friday during the day to attend the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan ceremony’.
Police said that after addressing the gathering, as soon as the Chief Minister moved towards the helipad, a person tried to commit suicide by sprinkling petrol on his body and setting himself on fire at the venue.
Inspector in-charge (SHO) of Kotwali Yogendra Singh said that the policemen present at the venue made efforts and extinguished the fire. He said that the person who attempted self-immolation has been identified as Shailendra Kumar of Tikhampur in Kotwali area of Ballia city. He told that Shailendra has been admitted to the district hospital.
Shailendra told reporters at the district hospital that he had taken this step out of helplessness and compulsion. Shailendra told that he had given twelve lakh rupees to a person to get a contract who later died.
Shailendra told that the family of the person who took the money is not returning the money because the said family is on the verge of starvation. Shailendra told that he had submitted a complaint letter by being present in the Janata Darbar of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on October 9, but the police did not take any action.
