Ahmedabad, November 3 (Language) Australia will not be able to get the services of its star players Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh against England and captain Pat Cummins said on Friday that considering the duration of the World Cup, there is a need to keep more than 15 players in the team. Permission should be given.
Maxwell was injured after falling from a golf cart while Marsh returned home due to personal reasons and no specific time has been given for his return.
Cummins said, “Yes, to be honest, it is a two-month tournament. You don’t want to be in a situation like New Zealand. Some of their players got injured, but fortunately they were able to keep Kane (Williamson) in the team. But if suddenly you have to drop him then I think it will not be good for cricket or the World Cup. ,
“It’s not like you can take players from other countries, so I always think you should always have as many players as you need and be able to choose from,” he said.
Cummins said the absence of Maxwell and Marsh was not an ideal situation with Australia trying to clinch a semi-final spot.
“Yes, it is not ideal,” he said. Both have been star players of the tournament at different times. We knew from the beginning of the tournament that we would need a full 15 players. ,
Cummins said, “I am not sure that we have fielded the same playing eleven in two consecutive matches. But we knew that during a two-month tournament you will have to make changes in the playing eleven by dropping some players due to injury or selection. ,
Cummins expressed hope that Maxwell would take the field sooner than Marsh.
He said, “Maxi is hopeful that he will be available for the match against Afghanistan, so he will not be able to play just one match. But he trained well yesterday. Regarding Marsh, we will wait and see, he will definitely make a comeback. ,
