New Delhi, November 7 (Language) Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) chief Arvinder Singh Lovely on Tuesday claimed that the ‘odd-even’ scheme of driving cars in the past has failed to curb air pollution and has only resulted in people suffering from air pollution. There has been an inconvenience.
He also said that Delhi has become a ‘gas chamber’ and the government has failed to take effective steps to tackle air pollution.
Lovely made this statement after Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai had announced on Monday that the odd-even scheme will be implemented in the city from November 13 to 20.
Lovely said both the central and state governments are responsible for the extremely poor air quality as they did not take any steps to stop pollution throughout the year and woke up only when people became victims of toxic air.
He said that if stubble burning was a factor in Delhi’s air pollution, then the BJP governments in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) governments in Punjab and Delhi should have taken earlier steps to stop incidents of stubble burning. Were wanted.
Lovely said in a statement, “The odd-even scheme of the state government was a wrong step, which did not reduce pollution but only caused inconvenience to the people. The Delhi unit of Congress wishes to make a constructive suggestion that the Lieutenant Governor should call an all-party meeting to find a permanent solution to the hazardous air pollution.”
The Congress leader alleged that due to dangerous air pollution, people are forced to move out of Delhi to save their lives, but both the governments do not care about the plight of the people.
