New Delhi, December 9 (Language) Maldives has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected President Mohammed Muizzu, but India has not yet taken any decision on this. The Foreign Ministry gave this information on Thursday.
Muizzoo, who is largely seen as a China-backed leader, is scheduled to take charge as the President of Maldives on November 17.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, “An invitation has been received for the Prime Minister (Modi) to attend the swearing-in ceremony. Once it is decided who will represent us and in what capacity, I will let you know.”
He said, “As of now I have no information to share (in this regard).”
