Ahmedabad, November 19 (Language) During the World Cup final against Australia, a fan of Indian star Virat Kohli, who was a supporter of Palestine, broke the security cordon and entered the field and tried to hug him.
The incident occurred before the first drinks break.
The security personnel caught this person. His name is Wayne Johnson and he is an Australian of Chinese Filipino descent. He was arrested and taken to Chand Kheda police station.
Political sloganeering in a cricket match is a crime but since Johnson is a foreign national, it is not known what kind of action will be taken against him.
Johnson was wearing a face mask with the design of the Palestinian flag and slogans in support of it were written on both sides of the T-shirt.
‘Stop bombing Palestine’ was written on the front of the T-shirt and ‘Save Palestine’ was written on the back.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) does not allow any political sloganeering during its events and it is not allowed in India either.
Fighting has been going on between Israel and Palestinian terrorist group Hamas since October 7.
