Request to the High Court to hand over the investigation of the cases to CBI.

Mumbai, November 2 (Language) A petition has been filed in the Bombay High Court demanding that all the FIRs registered in Maharashtra in connection with the ongoing agitation demanding Maratha reservation be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or any other special agency.

The petition has been filed by lawyer Gunaratna Sadavarte, who has previously appeared in the court in connection with petitions opposing Maratha reservation.

In the petition, Sadavarte has demanded handing over 28 FIRs lodged against Maratha reservation activists in the last two months at Bhoiwada police station and Jalna to CBI.

The petition claims that the violence broke out because of activist Manoj Jarange-Patil, but he has not been named in any of the FIRs due to his political connections.

Sadavarte has also demanded that the agitators be held accountable for the damage caused to public property during the violence.

The petition also sought a direction to the state government to pay compensation to those persons whose properties were damaged. Last week, two vehicles belonging to Sadavarte were damaged by some people claiming to be Maratha reservation activists. Sadavarte can present the petition before the High Court on Friday.
