Muzaffarpur/Patna, November 5 (Language) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday attacked the Nitish Kumar government of Bihar for deliberately undercounting the population of Muslims and Yadavs in the state’s caste survey as part of its “appeasement politics”. Accused of exaggerating.
Addressing a rally in Muzaffarpur city, Shah claimed that Kumar had succumbed to pressure from ally Lalu Prasad. Because Lalu Prasad belongs to Yadav caste and his party Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) mainly relies on Muslim voters.
Prasad’s son and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav termed the allegation made by the Union Home Minister as “nonsense” and wondered why the Center was shying away from announcing a nationwide caste census despite finding fault in the state survey.
Caste-based survey in Bihar shows that Yadavs constitute 14 percent of the population. Yadav caste is considered to be the most populous caste of Bihar.
According to the survey findings released last month, Muslims constitute 17 per cent, an increase of less than one per cent since the 2011 census. Muslims are blamed by a section of BJP leaders for “change in demography”.
Tejashwi Yadav’s views were echoed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party Janata Dal (United) (JDU) national president Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh.
While talking to reporters, Lalan rejected the former BJP president’s claim that the Other Backward Classes and Extremely Backward Classes have not got any benefit in the survey and said, “Overall their population is more than 62 percent.” ‘
Speaking separately to reporters in Patna, Yadav and Lalan also rejected Home Minister Shah’s allegations that there was no law and order in Bihar after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ousted it from power in August last year. -The system has gone wrong.
Highlighting the recent recruitment of 1.20 lakh teachers, Yadav claimed that “we are interested in distributing pens, it is the BJP which asks people to carry swords.”
Pointing to the murder of former MP Atiq Ahmed in the neighboring state of Uttar Pradesh, Lalan said that the BJP has not had a good record of maintaining law and order.
The JDU president also objected to Shah’s allegation that the ruling coalition in Bihar was pursuing the politics of “Muslim appeasement”, which would prove to be a “big problem” in the times to come for the border communally sensitive districts. Will cause trouble.
Lallan said, “We respect all religions but we would inflame religious sentiments for political gains.”
Lallan also accused the BJP of “always trying to create communal frenzy and capitalize on it electorally”.
The JDU president also ridiculed Shah’s statement that BJP also deserves credit for the caste survey as it was ordered when it was sharing power in Bihar.
Lalan said, “It would have been better if Shah had announced caste census on the land of Muzaffarpur.”
“Nitish Kumar conducted the survey only after repeated requests for a nationwide census were rejected by the Centre,” he said.
The JDU chief also expressed displeasure over Shah’s allegation of “betrayal of the 2020 mandate” against Nitish Kumar, who had fought the assembly elections in alliance with the BJP.
“BJP leaders have conveniently forgotten the conspiracies that their party hatched against Nitish Kumar, first with the help of another party during the assembly elections and later to weaken their own guru,” Lallan alleged. The conspiracy was hatched by luring a trusted associate of the Chief Minister.
The JDU chief was referring to the then Lok Janshakti Party chief Chirag Paswan and RCP Singh, who were inducted into the Union Cabinet without the approval of Nitish Kumar.
The JDU president also ridiculed Shah’s claim that the alliance between arch rivals Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad is like oil and water which can never mix.
He claimed, “BJP is daydreaming of winning all 40 seats of Bihar in the Lok Sabha elections. Let the elections come, we will not be able to win even a single seat.
Lallan also criticized Shah for claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pro-poor image was proved by the Centre’s decision to provide free food grains to the poor for the next five years.
The JDU president said, “The credit for this goes to the Food Security Act brought by the previous Congress-led UPA government.”
JDU Party is a major component of the ‘India’ alliance.
Regarding Shah’s statement regarding the inauguration of Ram temple in Ayodhya in January next year, Lalan said, “BJP leaders can get some employment as priests. His political career is over because people are fed up with his false promises.
