Fort Dodge (US), November 19 (AP) Former US President Donald Trump celebrated victory in an election case during his return visit to Iowa on Saturday. Trump criticized his political enemies and encouraged his supporters not to hold back from putting their demands and complaints before President Biden.
A Colorado judge on Friday rejected an effort to keep the Republican front-runner to be the nominee from the state’s primary ballot. The judge said Trump’s involvement in the insurrection during the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, does not make it clear that the Civil War-era constitutional amendment banning insurrectionists from holding public office. Whether applicable to the President or not.
This is Trump’s latest victory after the verdict in similar cases in Minnesota and Michigan. Campaigning in west-central Iowa, Trump called the decision “a major court victory” and described it as “an outrageous effort to disenfranchise millions of voters by removing them from the voting rolls.”
“Our opponents are showing every day that they hate democracy,” he charged, addressing a crowd of about 2,000 people at a ‘commit-to-caucus’ event at a high school in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Addressing the crowd present there, Trump said, “Can you show me a better performance?” Clap your hands, it’s the least you can do.”
Based on early polling by party leaders, Trump has a comfortable lead over his top rivals, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley. Trump’s campaign has been more aggressive in Iowa than in other early voting states.
