New York, November 11 (AP) Former US President Donald Trump has supported the request of media organizations to telecast the hearing in Washington of the federal election interference case filed against him.
Media organizations have said that the hearing of the historic case should be shown to the American public. However, the Justice Department has opposed telecasting the hearing, scheduled for March 2024, saying federal court rules do not permit telecasting of the hearing.
“Every person in America and beyond deserves the opportunity to watch this case go to trial,” Trump’s lawyers said in court papers Friday night. President Trump completely agrees, but requests a telecast of the entire hearing.
A case was registered against Trump on charges of attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 election. In this election he had to face defeat from the current President Joe Biden.
