Bhadohi (UP), November 7 (Language) City Kotwali police of Bhadohi district headquarters have seized 740 boxes of English liquor worth about Rs 90 lakh which were being taken from Punjab to Bihar and arrested two smugglers. A police officer gave this information on Tuesday.
Bhadohi’s Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rajesh Bharti told reporters that a truck being smuggled to Bihar to produce English liquor manufactured in Punjab and authorized for sale in Punjab was caught by the city Kotwali police on Monday night and 6602 liters of liquor was recovered from it. Whiskey has been recovered.
ASP said that the police have recovered liquor and arrested two smugglers.
The officer said that the value of the recovered whiskey was estimated at Rs 90 lakh. He said that the arrested smugglers have been identified as Rohit Galyan and Joginder Sharma.
ASP said that a team has been sent to arrest the leader of the illegal liquor smuggling gang, Guru Ji alias Vijay, resident of Kansara in Panipat district of Haryana.
Bhadohi Superintendent of Police Dr. Meenakshi Katyayan has announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for the police team. ASP said that action will also be taken against the caught liquor smugglers under the Gangster Act.
