Uddhav, his family pay tribute to Bal Thackeray on his 11th death anniversary

Mumbai, November 17 (Language) Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday visited the memorial of his father and Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray on his 11th death anniversary and paid tribute to him.

Uddhav along with his wife Rashmi and son and former minister Aditya Thackeray reached the memorial located at Shivaji Park. Bal Thackeray was cremated at this place.

Along with the Army (UBT) chief, top party leaders were also present, including MPs Sanjay Raut, Anil Desai, Vinayak Raut and Arvind Sawant.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Uddhav Thackeray, Shiv Sainiks from across the state paid tribute at the memorial.

Last year, the original Shiv Sena split into two factions following the Shinde-led rebellion against the party leadership and the fall of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.

The Election Commission later recognized the Shinde-led faction as the real Shiv Sena and ordered it to be allotted the “bow and arrow” election symbol. Uddhav Thackeray got the name Shiv Sena (UBT) for his faction.

Shinde-led Sena and UBT workers had come face to face on Thursday and raised slogans against each other at Bal Thackeray’s memorial. The police had dispersed the crowd.
