San Francisco, November 18 (Language) US Vice President Kamala Harris held important discussions with global leaders on issues like economic empowerment of women, inclusive development and strengthening bilateral relations at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. The White House gave this information.
The White House said that Harris (59), while addressing the meeting of the APEC Trade Advisory Council, announced an investment of more than US $ 900 million in the public and private sector to promote the economic empowerment of women around the world.
The White House has said that after President Joe Biden, Kamala Harris has emerged as America’s most influential foreign policy voice.
Ahead of this week’s event, Harris has visited 20 countries to strengthen America’s partnerships.
Harris addressed the ‘Women’s Economic Partnership in Industries of the Future programme’ and launched the ‘Women in the Sustainable Economy Initiative’.
Under this, Harris announced an investment of more than US $ 900 million to promote women’s economic participation.
The President’s Office said this innovative program will promote the economic empowerment of women globally by expanding access to employment, training, leadership roles and financial resources in critical industries.
Harris met with Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Harris also met Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape and discussed important matters.
